"Get Out the Vote? Only if You Want..."

On this very important election day, here's a little food for thought. Don't vote if you have to be persuaded to vote. Don't go vote because it's cool, or because all the scientologists in California are telling you to vote.

My mother always told me it was important to vote because so many people died to give me that right. Since then, I became interested in the issues. I educated myself on things, so I could make an educated decision. I've voted since I turned 18.

But lately, I'm wondering if all this demanding "Go vote now" rah rah is all it's hyped up to be. I don't want to discourage anyone from voting, but should you really vote for the sake of just voting? I think not.

Here I am speaking to a very young America, a group of influential people. So by all means, if you really care and believe in your candidate, head to the polls. But if you just want to vote for who others say you should, stay home.

Snaps for all of you who do care, who did make it to the polls and put your heart into it. Starbucks is waiting for you with a free cup of java. That rocks no matter who wins or loses!

Well, I think that depends on one's perspective of voting. Is it a right, a privilege, or a duty? I think that if Americans really care about the future of our nation, then they should vote. Otherwise, they essentially forfeit their right to comment on America's leaders or policies.

Personally, I believe voting it's our responsibility as citizens and also our privilege to determine our country's future.

Good point. But if you need to be told, you're not doing your duty and you don't care that it's a right!
